The Dance in the Sacred Wood (1910). Gabriel Deluc (French, 1883-1916). Oil on canvas. Musée Bonnat-Helleu. In an idyllic landscape, a woman dances for her languid companions, to the sound of the flute of a musician seated in the foreground on the right. The freedom and gaiety of the composition seduced Baron Rothschild, who bought the painting before donating it to the city of Bayonne.
